Every time I visit the herd at Tecate Horse Rescue I find peace and healing. I leave feeling suffused with calm. There is something very special about being around these horses, many of whom have suffered themselves and are now learning what it’s like to be safe and cared for. The work that DJ does is ann inspiration in today’s world—a model of kindness and generosity in troubled times. I volunteer there, doing what I can do, when I can, and even though I don’t feel like it’s much, I always feel appreciated. In the end, I just know I get so much more than I give.
Adopting Jack from Tecate Horse Rescue was a life-changing experience for me, and when my daughter adopted Delilah, our bond with the rescue only grew stronger. These horses have brought so much purpose and healing into our lives, and what started as an adoption has turned into a true passion. Now, whenever we have available time, we love volunteering and giving back to the rescue that gave us so much.
I am so thankful for my two horses I got from Tecate horse rescue! I took in a filly at first and she is the sweetest Andalusian Cross ever! I couldn’t imagine NOT having her in my life! A couple months later I then adopted her mother! Both mom and filly are doing amazing and I am beyond thankful for Tecate Horse Rescue to allow me to adopt them both! DJ is very kind and I am so glad that I got my horses from her! Thank you so much Tecate Horse Rescue! I wouldn’t have found my dream horses without you!
