All Volunteers are needed now and everyday. The horses need interaction with friendly people and there are only so many of us. Additionally specific volunteers are needed:
Volunteer Coordinator
Do you have 5-10 hours per week to help recruit the 30 volunteers we need per week? Involves outreach to schools, religious, social and fraternal organizations, as well as meeting potential volunteers in front of stores and community event. Requires phone calls to schedule volunteers for specific activities. Most work can be done from home. Lead volunteer orientations (mostly weekends) and meeting with each volunteer to determine their interests and abilities as they relate to the horse rescue. Do you have 5-10 hour per week to help us raise the more than $30,000 we need per month to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome our equines? We are a nonprofit organization that requires over $5,000 per month for feed and $6-8000 per month for medical and maintenance and other items. We need help coordinating baked goods table, weekend rescue rides, grant proposals, organizing others to hold fundraisers for us. Do you have 5-10 hours per week to help us meet our community and make them aware of the crisis equines are facing nationwide and how they can help locally? The Speaking Engagements Coordinator will contact religious groups, social and fraternal organizations, schools and anywhere community minded people gather and schedule presentations that explain the crisis and how we need the group's help. Do you have 5-10 hours per week to help us coordinate the rescue, pickup and delivery of horses, feed, supplies and volunteers needed to run Tecate Horse Rescue? You would be responsible for calling and coordinating with individuals and companies that have agreed to donate their time doing transportation. This can be done on the phone from home. Do you have 5-19 hours per week to help us coordinate the maintenance and repairs of the ranch to ensure safe and appropriate facilities for our more than 50 equines and staff to operate through? This would involve a weekly, monthly, yearly prioritized list of projects and your help to recruit the professionals and others to volunteer to complete those areas of work.Donations Coordinator
Do you have 5 to 10 hours per week to help get the donations we need for everything we do? We need donations of food, halters, bridles, nails, lumber, water buckets and so very much more. This work can be done at home on the phone. You would work off a prioritized list of items needed for the day, week, month, year. Do you have 5-20 hours per month to arrange and coordinate our special events? These would be weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual events. You would work off a prioritized list and help to create the events and all the details to be able to publicize the work of Tecate Horse Rescue, raise much needed donations and recruit volunteers needed to continue our life-saving operations.Equine Well being Coordinator
Do you have 10 or more hours per week to help us ensure that every single one of the equines in our charge have a step-by-step plan detailed and operationalized to give them the very best possible outcome? This includes tracking their medical basics, farrier, dentals etc. and the step-by-step training of each equine to assess their ability to be rehabilitated and rehomed or provided an excellent pasture life. This position requires at least 5 hours per week at the Horse Ranch. The remainder of the time can be spent at home using our cloud software and making the phone calls and emails necessary to ensure their health and training. Donations
Monetary donations are always welcome and necessary to maintain Tecate Horse Rescue. Hay prices have escalated, in some cases doubling in price. Due to water rights realignments, some sources are disappearing. Currently Tecate Horse Rescue spends over $5,000 a month on hay (Alfalfa and Teff). This is in addition to a multitude of other needs.
